Lady
This is another one I wrote when I was real young. Animal poems were always my favorites.
LADY IS A CHIHUAHUA
OR SO THAT'S WHAT I'M TOLD,
BUT WHATEVER SHE IS
I KNOW FOR A FACT
SHE'S WORTH HER WEIGHT IN GOLD.
SHE HAS NO FORMAL TRAINING,
NO RIBBONS NOR PEDIGREE.
BUT SHE'S PRETTY, SMART
AND MOST OF ALL
SHE MEANS THE WORLD TO ME.

You may not have time to get to a veterinarian if your dog suddenly starts to choke. So it's important to know what to do and act fast. First, try to clear your dog's mouth of any ball or bone. If that's not possible, perform a version of the Heimlich maneuver for use on dogs. You'll find your dog's sternum right at the bottom of his rib cage. Clasp your hands underneath the sternum and give a quick thrust. If the Heimlich maneuver fails, lift your dog by his hind legs-gravity may dislodge the object. If that doesn't work, get to a veterinarian-fast.
